A beautiful weekend of sunshine and racing in Husky 2012.

Amazingly we booked two awesome houses again this year, with one of the houses on the ride and run course, overlooking the ocean. We were spoiled with a great place to lay our heads and watch the race as well as great company.

Sprint race

After a night of continual rain, the sun was shining. Over 1500 athletes had entered the sprint race this year. That meant for lot’s of fun on the course.

Special congratulations to Genelle Warne who came 3rdin her age group and Steve Phipps who managed a huge 10 min PB.

A few thrills and spills in this race. I think we need to practice some transitions with both Steve and Sam coming off the bike at the dismount line. Not enough bark off to slow them down though. Genelle forgot to do her helmet up !!!!!!! Yes, lots of work needed.

Steve Phipps 1.51.40 ( 10 min PB from last year)

Sam Freeman 1.29.10 ( first sprint race)

Jen Wheeler 1.33.19 ( PB from last year)

Genelle Warne 1.23.51 ( 3rd in age group)

Dave Jaffe 1.32.33 ( 5th in age group and over 1 min PB from last year)

Janelle Gentle 1.27.34 ( who warned everyone on the run that the coach was coming)

Jodie Linsley 1.17.45

Long course 2km swim, 83km bike, 20km run

Some great performances in this race. The hard work that is being done in training is paying off. Some particularly awesome performances from those who come to Saturday Super Set every week. Do whatever you can to get to this set , as it prepares you like no other session for your race.

The most outstanding result of the weekend came from Zoe who took over 20 mins off her time from last year.

Zoe Van 4.47.02 ( swim 33.46, bike 2.29.32, run 1.43.43) 7th in age group

The battle between Stresy and James was on. James couldn’t back up the pre race talk with Mick finishing 3 minutes faster overall.

Mick Stres 4.26.10 ( swim 35.41, bike 2.18.02, run 1.32.34)

James 4.29.18 ( swim 25.28, bike 2.26.13 , run 1.37.36)

Louise Mackinley in her preparation for her come back Ironman in Melbourne pulled out a great training day finishing in great shape and in 6th place in her age group.

Lou 4.55.54 ( swim 33.03, bike 2.35.15, 1.47.36 run )
